This song was written by Scotty McCreery, Frank Rogers, and Aaron Eshuis. McCreery debuted the song during his "Live at the Ryman" live-stream concert at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on the 4th of September 2020. He said about it, "Performing at the Ryman is always an honor. Giving my debut performance of 'You Time' on that stage is something I'll always treasure."

"You Time" is a love song dedicated to Scotty McCreery's wife, Gabi. He commented on it, "I am so excited about releasing new music, especially a song that makes me think of Gabi and puts me in a joyful mood. I think we can all use a smile right now."

Speaking about his new music on the KTLA 5 Morning News on the 10th of September 2020, Scotty McCreery explained, "This was written obviously for my wife but this was really when we were both working hard. I mean, she was at the hospital, she's pediatric nurse, and I was on the road as busy as I've ever been. It was like I've been coming home from the road, and she'd be going out for the hospital and we've just been passing. So, I was just missing her and I wanted to spend some time with her and that's kind of where the song came about."
